Jan Schöler immigrated to this country from the Netherlands when he was 13 years old. He was educated in Augusta Georgia from his high school years through his Doctorate from the Medical College of Georgia. He then did a fellowship in Rochester New York in neuroendocrinology. After that he took a job in Academia at LSU Medical School in New Orleans. In 1983 he moved back to Augusta and ran a private medical laboratory until 2013. His achievements in that arena include some very specialized testing and producing one of the first test tube babies in Georgia. After 30 years in the medical laboratory business, he is now employed at Xytex Cryo International, LTD as the Chief Operating Officer. In 2004 he and his wife Tricie Schöler ventured out and opened up the Wild Wing Café in Augusta. This venture has involved their whole family as all of their children were employed at one time in the restaurant and currently two of their three sons are managers at the “Wing”. Their other son is a veterinarian at St. Francis Hospital in Augusta and their daughter is a Registered Nurse in Atlanta. Besides a wonderful family life with a recently added grandson and granddaughter and more on the way, he also enjoys general aviation, boating, motorcycle riding, hunting, fishing and is active in Tae Kwon Do where he teaches and holds a third degree black belt. Jan Schöler was one of the charter members of the J.D. Paugh Memorial Foundation where he holds the office of Treasurer.
