Jayson Sabo was born here in Augusta, GA. He has a profound love of music that blossomed at a young age of seven years old after recording his first song on a Radio Shack handheld tape recorder. That love for music has been a staple and part of his identity from that point forward. From high school bands playing at bonfires to standing on a stage performing in front of eight thousand people, you can still find his passion for music has not changed since he was seven years old. “Sabo” as most locals know him, has been a part of the Augusta music scene since the mid 90’s. You could find him playing acoustic around town and always know that you were going to hear some current to obscure covers of your favorite songs you either knew from the radio to B side album tracks! Also, he was a member of numerous groove driven bands like People Who Must, Sabo and The Scorchers, The Good Times Band, and most recently, with the regionally touring band Whiskey Run that is also writing and recording a new album due to be released in 2015.
In the summer of 2005 Jayson formed Coda Entertainment Group, LLC and is the talent buyer for Wild Wing Café in Augusta and several other establishments in Georgia and South Carolina. He books local talent as well as national artists. Some notables that “Sabo” has booked locally, have been household names like Zac Brown, Corey Smith, Brantley Gilbert, Monte Montgomery, and Chris Barron just to name a few, and on most nights during the week you can find a hidden gem just on the verge of becoming a superstar on the Augusta Wild Wing Café stage…
In 2008 Sabo along with two others created “The Music Evolution Series” that was a huge success in Columbia County. The series was a monthly concert that transformed the Columbia County Amphitheater into a stunning concert venue. These concerts ran from March to November 2008 and not only exposed up and coming artists but also gave the locals a chance to see some incredible talent just an arms-length away. In 2008 the series brought in several American Idols Bo Bice, Ace Young and Nashville Stars winner Chris Young. If you attended the Series you also got to see Lady Antebellum on the same evening as their first single “Love Don’t Live Here” went to number one on Billboards Radio Top 100, while sharing the evening with country SUPERSTAR Luke Bryan. These were just a few of the priceless memories that were made during the summer of 2008.
Jayson married the girl of his dreams in 2002 at the beautiful Sacred Heart in downtown Augusta. He and his wife Kambria have two children. Christian and Isabella Sabo. The Sabo’s reside in Columbia County where Kambria is a third grade teacher. You can also hear Kambria, Christian or Isabella belting out their favorite songs at any given moment as they to…. LOVE MUSIC!
I just want to conclude by stating that I love this Foundation, members, volunteers and friends. I’m proud to be a founding member and proud to serve on this board/family in memory of Deputy J.D. Paugh. Without the selflessness of everyone involved this wouldn’t be possible, and looking forward to continued success!
